Get paper jam/obstructed print head error lights, but neither is the case (ip7250)

When I try to print from my ip7250, I get two alternating orange and white flashes. This is supposed to means either that there is a paper jam, or that something (typically original packing materials) is obstructing the print head holder. However, neither is the case. I have looked in the back of the printer and there is no paper stuck there; and I was able to slide the print head holder manually from one side to the other.

When I tried to print from tray 2 (I've no idea which tray that is because MacOS doesn't make that clear), I got a brief, loud, and definitely abnormal mechanical noise.

Is there a way to fix this without an expensive professional service?
