HP Color LJ Pro M281cdw jam

I have a M281cdw I'm working on and the paper feeds right to before where the last rollers would pull it into the completion bed. Each time it stops at the same point and says there is a jam in the rear/fuser area. There aren't any pieces jamming it, and it seems more like a sensor issue thinking there's a jam when there isn't. It seems to get past the fuser no problem. A piece was taped to the top of the printer and I'm unsure if it is part of the problem.
