Need Help positioning on scanner Brother MFCJ 497 DW

Hi,newbie here.
I posted this yesterday, but I may have gone to the wrong place, so I'll try again. I have a Brother MFCJ 497DW. I cant figure out where to position a 3.5 x 5 photo on the glass. I'm always getting half a picture coming out no matter where I place it on the glass. Any help would be appreciated!
