I have an Epson R3000 that I bought in 2011. It's always been cranky. (I never use the glossy black, for example, because it always manages to smear across the page.) It has other troubles but recently I switched to a new modem and now I can't even connect the Epson to the new router. My question is this: Is it time to look at getting a new printer? Is 10 years the average lifespan of an appliance like this? Is it worth it to get to the bottom of all the difficulties to make the damn thing function? I'm not a throwaway type of person. It irks me to think of tossing this hunk of plastic into the trash. On the other hand, I feel like I'm fighting a losing battle.
Thanks for any advice along these lines.
