Samsung SCX-4100 and a weird problem

Anyone knows what's wrong with my Samsung SCX-4100 printer? It is used for less than 800 copies and has a new cartridge. The printing quality is very good when the machine is cold, i.e. just after switching the power on and just printing. After some minutes the quality is as poor when printing with a cartridge which should be immediately replaced. What's going on?
