Are you sure it's a serial port? Most older printers would come with a parallel port:

You can get lots of Parellel to USB cables online for less than $10 (i.e. http://www.amazon.com/C2G-16899-IEE...id=1414753099&sr=8-1&keywords=parallel+to+usb). However, I have found that they aren't guaranteed to work with a printer.

If it is indeed a serial port (9 pin), you can get the same USB > Serial cables (although they can be a little more expensive).

Are you using a specialist printer?
