Artisan 800 ink pad error

Anyone have a successful experience with trying to use the alleged ink pad reset program .... "epson 17555.exe" that was downloaded/available from Epson support. Attempted executing it but it seemingly can't find the printer and shuts down. So the question being is a there a functional reset program available ... other than those $10 per reset routines that are found in a google search or is there a trick to getting the Epson executable to find the printer. Bottomline .... does anyone know if there is a way to make this paper weight functional again. Up until this little situation, it's been a very good printer and would like to get it operational... especially in view of just having recently put in a whole set of new cartridges.

I'm having the same issue. Did you have luck solving the problem?
