Brother HL-H2300D not working?

The 'ready' light is on. When plugged back in to AC, the machine seems to go thru its normal cycle. (there is paper in the bin, and no jams. The print cartridge is fairly new. None of the error lights are lit). When I hit 'print', nothing happens. On the PRINT page, the listed printer is always 'Microsoft print to PDF'. The only Brother listed is the HL-H2300D - which produces a warning - 'Could not start printer. Please check your printer config'. If I click OK, the box goes away. Where might I find the printer config?
Any suggestions? The printer is about a year old? And not used very often. But I would like to use it!
Thanks

Thanks for all the help, guys! Much appreciated.
The sorta-fix? My wife said 'what if we try it on my computer?' And it worked!
THAT is how you offer suggestions, if you cant offer a fix.
Thanks, I'm done here.

I guess that was a bit harsh. It is a computer and a printer. The question could be hard to diagnose, and the fault could lie anywhere.
But the number of people that looked, with no interest, bugged me.
I'll go away now.
