Brothers MFC-J6930DW European Printer vs USA Ink conflict.

I was recently gifted the MFC-J6930DW printer from a friend in EUrope. I live in US, I purshased the ink online recommended by the store and I got LC3019 cartridges. But the printer will not accept them and asks for LC3217. It seems these are special for Europe only and would have to import them all the way from oversees, and not form the US.
I was wondering if there is a way to solve this conflict. Perhaps updating the firmware? Any suggestions are appreciated.
