Canon IP4500 Connection Problem

I have recently purchased a Canon IP4500 printer and I have gone through the installation and when it comes to detect it my computer doesn't recognise it, it uses a USB to USB connection from the printer to the computer.
I have tried all the troubleshooting and still it doesn't detect the printer.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
