I've tried to print to my printer but it says it's offline, yet it's switched on and connected to Wi-Fi. Any ideas? I am unable to uninstall and reinstall because I'm using a work laptop which requires permissions to install items and I'm now off work for 2 weeks so that isn't an option for me.

You dont indicate Operating System. If Windows follow this:
Control Panel -> Devices & Printers -> MG3053 Icon must be marked with Green Check Indicating Default Printer
If not so Marked -> Right Click MG3053 Icon -> select "Make Default"

Did that. Still won't print...

So you have a printer at home. You are trying to use a borrowed laptop from work.
Your printer is connected to your home Wifi (Router) as was always the case.
Then your laptop must not be connected to your home Wifi. You must install your
printer driver onto the work laptop. This is usually done with MG3053 install cd.
You will need to have your Wifi password for your router.
