I have a pixma 8720 that won’t power on. I ran about two sets of ink through it and one day it stopped working. It had already been replaced under warranty when it gave a fatal error code.

I opened the internal power converter to check for blown capaicitors or burnt resisters. It looked good and it was sending power to its output terminals.

Maybe the power button is broken? It feels normal. I can’t figure out how to get that part of the case off. I can see some tabs, but not all of them.

I bought this printer after using an older pixma for several years with great, inexpensive results. Perhaps hardware quality has been reduced over the years for this consumer entry and this series is meant to be a desk decoration. Has anybody heard of such bad luck? Any experience opening these things? Thanks.
