Literally pulling out my hair.

recently purchased a canon pixma ts5051 for home use. I have managed to print successfully from both my phone and pc, but as of last week, I cannot print from the pc. I believe im running windows 7 and using the installation software (how I originally installed it) I cant even get the computer to appear in the connection list. and if by luck it does, when I try to process the connection, it wont.
the printer appears in my printer list but is constantly listed as offline. if I open the printer properties, "user offline" is not selected. if I select then de select, it makes no difference.
its driving me absolutely bonkers. so any help appreciated. im fairly computer literate but this is stumping me.

Pinkbunny, navigate as follows:

Windows 7
Control Panel -> Devices and Printers
Do you see TS5051 Icon with Green Check?
If no green Check, then do this:
Right Click TS5051 Icon -> Select Make Default
Can you now print test page from Word Or Word Pad
(type two or three lines of text -> at top of page under "File" Select "Print")

If you unable to find "Devices and Printers" do search (Start -> Search Box -> type Devices and Printers)

Green tick, yes. Set as default printer. Still made no difference. I managed to find a usb cable to connect up the pc, various drivers were installed etc and im able to print, but this totally undermines the fact that we bought a wireless printer that we cant print wirelessly from!! when connected, i was able to untick the "use printer offline" selection. when i unplugged the usb, it appears all is good, go to print from work and the printer displays as ready and no warnings pop up until about 30 seconds later when you get an error message and the printer shows status as offline again.

Ok lets start over.
Control Panel -> Devices and Printers -> Right click TS5051 icon -> Select "Remove Device"
Do same for any other TS5051 icons (Important)
Your printer is now uninstalled
Study your printed manual carefully
Re-install printer using Canon Install CD (Follow on-screen and printed instructions carefully)
You will select install process for "Wireless"
You must know SSID (Router Address) and Passphrase (Consult Router Installer)

Here is step by step Wireless Setup:
Press the "Home" button on printer
Select Setup on printer screen
Select Settings.
Select Device Settings.
Select LAN settings.
Select Wireless LAN.
Select Wireless LAN setup.
Select Manual connect.
Select your wireless network name.
Enter your wiress network password.
"Connected to the wireless router." appears.
Select OK
Wireless network is connected
