Epson 6100 X printer - lousy B/W prints

I have a continual problem printing b/w photos in b/w with this printer. Prints come out with a distinct color cast/ usually magenta… I‘ve heard that these printers use color ink when printing b/w photos; which is ridiculous… I can even see the color ink cartridges slowly showing less and less ink as I print b/w!
Can anyone help me in stopping the printer from using color to print B/W?.. I don’t see any choices in the print menus at all to do this.
