Epson P700 keeps jamming and damaging paper

My two-year old Epson P700 keeps damaging paper, and also will print part of a photo, but then stop and say it is jammed, when it is not really jammed. I've tried all the basic technical tests and alignments to no avail. I tried cleaning the excess inside the feed and that did nothing. I'm afraid that something in the paper feed is bent. Is this something I can diagnose and fix myself? The nearest Epson service store is 3.5 hrs away. I called Epson and they just directed me to a service store. I can't find much on my internet searches for fixing bent parts. How do I figure out what is wrong?

Update, I called the nearest Epson service center in ABQ and they don't even service Epson anymore. Ugh. The person there told me I'd be better off buying a new one. What do you think?

You'd be better off buying a predecessor of the P700. The P600 or P800. Or even better, the 3800or 3880; The P700 and P900 are the most elegant looking printers we've seen. That said, they're as faulty and poorly constructed as they are beautiful. It sucks to have such a large paperweight of a printer. We've seen nothing but problems from your printer. From MANY customers that come in complaining about the problem they have with their Epson. 80% of the time, I guess correctly when I say P700.
