Epson Stylus Photo HD R280

I’ve had a Stylus Photo R280 for several years that has worked flawlessly. Last week I attempted to print PVC ID cards and the print tray would not feed when print was selected and all three lights would flash until the tray was removed. The printer prints on paper w/o problems. Epson offered several suggestions which didn’t correct the problem. I needed to complete the job so purchased new R280 and have the same identical problem. Ok, so I purchased new card tray. Still same problem but now only ink and paper lights blink. Any ideas?
