Epson wf-2850 suddenly won't recognize aftermarket ink cartridges

Ok, I've heard that there is a firmware update that stops the use of aftermarket cartridges but it seems that I have gotten that malware. The question is what if anything can be done about it? I have just recently been able to print without problems and now it won't let me get past the " I don't recognize your cartridges" screen.
