Failed to start scanner: Error during device I/O

I have failed in getting the scan working.
Product: HP Neverstop Laser MFP 1200w
Operating System: Linux
Distributor ID: Debian
Description: Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookworm)
Release: 12
Codename: bookworm
I have followed several solutions elsewhere but all failed miserably.
I would appreciate any suggestion or pointers.

Do you have the most up to date drivers for it? Did you follow the install directions correctly?

Thanks for the reply. Yep. Several times. It seems that HPLIP is not updated for the current Debian (bookworm).

Linux can be delayed a bit with updates. Glad you figured it out
