My HP Photosmart 7960 is going through the motions (grabs paper, print head goes back and forth/side to side) but when the paper ejects there's NOTHING on the paper.
Is this a dried up print cartridge issue? I haven't printed with it in a while.
    Thanks

Most likely it is a dried up set of heads. Not familiar with that exact printer. Does it have heads on the cartridges? Or, stationary in the carriage? If in the carriage, most likely it is the heads. Otherwise, changing the cartridges would solve the problem.
Internal heads are very fragile. They are easily cleaned but proper actions are necessary to keep from damaging them. Use a well known head cleaning liquid and follow instruction they give. Good luck
