How do I install this printer??

Hey Guys

Can anyone advise me on how to install the Canon Pixma 4840 printer onto my iMac? I have the OS X 10.7.3 operating system. I have tried EVERYTHING! Even emailing Canon but they are pretty useless. They just forward the latest driver link and ignore my question. I have installed the cd software, installed the latest driver. And still somehow my mac does not recognize any printer connection? Not even when I turn it on.

I am 4 months new to mac but so far everything has been a breeze except for installing this printer!

Please help me!
