Is the Epson 3880 incompatible with Monterey?

I've tried to print to my Epson 3880 from my MacBook Pro which is in system 12.4 or Monterey. It cannot communicate with the printer. I've tried this both from my computer which has the latest M1 Apple chip and from my husband's computer which has the Intel chip but is also in Monterey. I know the printer works because it printed a test sheet from the console. Is the 3880 incompatible with Monterey?

Did you try using Ethernet cable instead of USB to connect? That seems to have worked for some people. [ It has not worked for me. I have an Epson 3880 pro and late 2015 M27"mac pro, newly upgraded to Monterey. I've had two calls with Epson, which both ended with their recommending that I talk to Apple. Apple was unable to help ("we don't do printers").
