Lexmark X1200

I am using this printer on a Windows 7 32-bit machine so I had better say first of all that as there are no specific drivers for it under Windows 7 I am using ones for the 1270 which I am told should work.
I have found that when I print a test page everything is fine, but if I try to do a normal print, a document or letter for example, the printer makes all the right noises but the paper comes out blank. Has anyone any ideas please?
