Loud noise when printing

Brother HL-2270DW. Got a toner error message today, although right before that printing quality was fine. Running the green toner cartridge lever back and forth didn't solve it. Plus, the error light then switched from Toner to Error, with a loud machine-like noise coming from the back until the light came on. After putting in a new toner cartridge it prints fine, i.e., no more error light, but the loud noise is still there each time. What might I need to look for? Thanks,
