For months the printer has been starting chrome, after sleep, wanting an update. It was updated! Finely I figured to download new software from Brother. I have tried for hours, it will not install the scanner drivers. Something with the old drivers.

an error occurred during the installation please restart your pc, ensure all active applications are closed - then reinstall the brother device software. (scannerdriver : 1001)
windows 10 latest update. wired network. printer can't see pc when trying to scan. but no drivers will install.
