need help with HP Tango X set up

Hello - I'm new to Wireless printing and can't print yet from my HP Tango X

I"m getting a "this printer is not available right now" message on my smartphone when I try to print from it (an HTC desire 610, running android 4.4.2) to my new Tango X. The printer is connected to the phone - I downloaded the HP smart print app, the printer is recognized, and HP print service is shown as "on".

I turned on and off all devices (including router) several times to no avail. Also moved all devices closer together. My router says "xfinity/technicolor". My phone is 3 years old. I need a new one anyway, so could that solve my problem?

thanks for any other help - somewhat of an emergency here.
