We have two dot matrix printers with the same issue. (Model No. GE7000A)
The printer seems to function fine when only hooked up to power. The settings are good, it prints fine. The paper feeds and recedes (rear feed) how it is supposed to.
When printing via USB to parallel cable or via parallel print server the job stays in printing status. While it is, the printer does not respond to any keys. The only option is to power cycle it.
If power cycling while the paper is in the TOF position, it becomes unresponsive again. If the paper is staged to be fed, it will FF/LOAD, TEAR, but then freezes again when entering the MENU or pressing SEL.
Even-though we never have issues with the generic/text driver, we tried switching to the dot matrix driver, no success. We've swapped the USB to parallel cable out with new. Tried switching out each piece of the following hardware; Printhead, LF motor, PC connector/space motor, operation panel board, driver board, control/power supply board and transformer. Which I think is about everything you can try.
What are the chances that anybody knows what the issue could be or what to try next?
