I am a tech in a school and have a C510 Laserjet with an empty Cyan cartridge. The teacher would like to be able to continue to print b&w, but I can't gain access to the config to set the B&W lock in the settings menu. I can't access it through the web interface and the settings on the panel appear to be locked because of the empty cartridge. I have been searching, but can't seem to find an answer. Surely there is a hack that will allow this. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Gregg

SOLVED! The cartridges have a hole on the side that a laser reads the levels from. Find the sensor on the side of the cartridge slot. Cover the corresponding hole with opaque tape. This will keep the printer form sensing the cartridge empty. Then change the settings for B&W lock to on. Now the printer will print black and white only.
