Printing in Black Only

Someone gave me a printer Pixma TR7520 because it ran out of ink and he did not want to spend money replacing the cartridges.

I took it thinking that I could just buy a black cartridge to use it since all I need it for is scanning and black printing. is there any way to do this or do I have to buy all cartridges to use this printer?

Nope they need all the cartridges to be present and all must contain ink.

The makers claim it's because when printing black they use the other colours to make the black ritcher, it's actually done to make them ritcher

Thanks for confirming my understanding of what the operator's manual says, Paul-H, I thought that might be the case. Also the reason I will not be buying any cartridges. For the amount I print, it's far cheaper to pay to print as needed, if needed.
