Prints have a black shade all over the page Samsung ML- 2165

Hello .
I have had the Samsung ml-2165 for around 3 years now, The problem which i have is that my printer will print pages fine but they come out with an extreme shade of black on the whole page especially on the sides , my guess is the cartridge might be leaking but how do i check whats wrong and what is the fix ?
