Canon pixma 6250 photo printing cuts top of image off

Hi I've got a canon pixma mg6250 and whenever I print photos onto 4x6 canon photo paper there is always some of the image cut off the top, meaning I only get half of people's heads! Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong please?

Some possibilities

* Do you have "Orientation" set properly ... landscape vs portrait?

* Correct paper size, so that the printer / print-driver and software agree.

* It can be surprisingly difficult to get the paper size to stay consistent and be "sticky" and not change from print to print.

* Frustrating, but what part of printing isn't, at least at first.
