can't uninstall i250 (Windows 98SE)

I was given an i250 but did not like it. When I try to uninstall, I get a protest
claiming that BJ printer related file in use, and that I should exit the running
application. But there is no printing, and no aborted print jobs in spool.
I presume I can delete the files in \WINDOWS\CJPDRV and some others in
\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\ but that is still not a clean uninstall.
Anybody know what gives the file-in-use false alarm?
