Epson WF-545 Ink Leakage

Greetings all,

My printer suddenly started printing with blue ink on the pages, looking like the rollers ink had come from a leaking cartridge. The picture shows that a lot of ink has leaked inside. I found a small piece of paper with a bunch of ink on it. My theory is that a paper jam caused a torn piece of paper to end up inside, creating an obstruction that we didn't notice for months.
My question...is there a safe way to clean this ink that will keep it working, or do I just need to look for a new printer?

Thank you,

John

Our office workhorse printer came to us with no maintenance cartridge sponge installed at all. Without the previous owner telling us that. You can imagine the mess we had after moving it around and flipping it onto our shoulders beforehand.

Depending on the amount of ink in the printer. If the printer is still working, it may be best to let it dry and to also run paper without printing through, while cleaning what you can out of the rollers with Q-tips or paper towels.

If there is a lot of ink that you're worried about hitting any electronics, the best way to clean it would be to gently remove any panels to expose where the ink is and clean it. The ink runs to the base almost every time unless it's contained before that.
