Epson XP-410 Help Please

I adopted an XP-410. I set up the driver and printer. downloading it online from the Epson site. Also did the setup on the printer dashboard. TWICE EACH!! it is connected, and both pages and copies sound like they are printing, but the pages come out BLANK! I don't know if it's this printer, or if there is something I can do. But at the end of the 2nd setup it was supposed to print a test page. It came out BLANK. The ink is fine. Just installed new black cartridge too. (Tho it is a generic one - not Epson.) I'd be SO GRATEFUL for any suggestions!

Does the ink HAVE to be Epson ink? The printer was working for the girl who gave it to me. Anyone have any ideas?! I would be So Grateful for any suggestions! I have the worst luck with printers! Thank you So Much!
