HL-2270DW paper feeding problem

I have a gently used HL-2270DW printer that has developed a problem feeding paper from the paper tray.
I have already replaced the paper feed rollers and cleaned everything.

The paper is picked-up fro the tray and pushed up towards the manual feed slot, but seems to hit something on the way to the printer. If I pull the paper tray out very slowly I find the leading edge of the paper has been fed up into the printer. If I pull the paper tray out, I can manually feed the paper up into the printer and the sheet will print fine. The manual feed slot also works just fine.

Anyone got an idea?

Thanks in advance for the help.

ftarz: appears something has fallen into paper track, blocking paper transport path.
Turn printer up-side-down and shake it. This might clear path way.

Also be sure paper not held to firmly in paper tray. Should be slight clearance in
paper slide adjustments.

On many Brother printers, a "failure to feed paper even though there's paper in the tray" problem is often a broken "feeder cam lever".

To check if that's the problem, remove the paper drawer and look for a 1/8" square white piece of plastic on the lower left front of the printer (see the photo). If the piece of white plastic moves back and forth (left or right) easily when you touch it with a needle tool or long-nose pliers, it's broken and must be replaced.

The part number of the "feeder cam lever" for a wide range of Brother printers is LY2579001, and it's available on eBay for less than $4. If you buy it there, make sure you're buying from a USA-based seller, not a China-based seller, so you can get it quickly.

A video that shows exactly how to replace the part can be found at
.

I bought my HL-2270DW printer 11 years ago, and the part broke after printing 11,200 pages. It's amazing that a part for an 11-year-old printer is still available, but I think that's because this part eventually fails on ALL of the many Brother printers that use it, so the market for the part is large.
