Paper jams coming out of fuser on Brother MFC 8460N

This old, well-worn Brother MFC 8460N has a recurring paper jam problem. It usually happens where the paper comes out of the fuser and has to make a 180 degree bend and get picked up by some rubber rollers. The situation is complicated by the fact that often the blank paper tray picks up one or two more sheets than necessary, not together, but in separate pick operations. The second sheet picked, which has nothing printed on it , is the most likely to jam. Thanks in advance for ant suggestions.
