Problem with non-oem cartridge

I have a HP Photosmart 7520 printer and I have some 364BK cartridges but the printer will not recognise them. This is the first time I have seen a BK cartridge, I normally use 364K XL. Is there anything I can do to be able to use them or do I have to dispose of them?
