Sublimation ink can go from solid to gas without becoming a liquid, making it the most convenient option. Dry ice is an excellent example. Heat is used to adhere the ink to the surface, which in this case is a mug or a tee shirt. When heat is applied, the pattern is first printed on a special paper that allows the ink to turn into a gas and combine with the sublimation blank.
