Which Laser Printer for Me?

Hello, I'm a new member. I've been an HP Laser printer user ever since the LaserJet II. My computer usage is strictly hobby now. Before I retired, I was an embedded microcomputer programmer.

My current LaserJet 2100 is getting a little long in the tooth. I print a lot of pdf documents, and I've been getting this printer error (Internal Overflow or Insufficient Memory) on many pages. The pages that have the error always contain detailed graphics. Can anybody recommend a printer with the following requirements.

Must be Laser (no color needed) (doesn't have to be an HP).
Able to print detailed graphics from pdf documents without running out of memory.
1200 dpi preferred, 600 dpi acceptable.
Double sided printing would be nice, if not too expensive.
USB connection, no network or WiFi here.
Must work with XP, nice if it would also work with 98SE but not necessary.
