Xerox 6500 not entering Service Mode and ESS Diag mode

I am trying to get into my printer's Service Mode and ESS Diag mode by holding down the up and down arrow keys while turning on the printer. I was able to do this a few years ago but now it will not work. It just boots up as normal. The up and down arrow keys function normally so, it is not a switch problem. Does anyone know if Xerox disabled this function (I just got a new lapto and the drivers were downloaded along with maybe something else?) or if there is another way to get into Service Mode and ESS Diag.
