Canon iP100 printer doesn't print pictures... please help!!

I have a Canon iP100 printer that I bought a year ago. I've yet to print a single decent picture with it. I've basically given up. Every time I try to print one (from day one), it comes out horrendously - totally faded, lined, sometimes magenta, sometimes with a blue-ish tint... I've replaced the ink cartridges several times, to no avail. I have no idea how to fix it, as I am not computer smart, but honestly this is starting to seem ridiculous even to me. Help, please!

I'd start by removing as many "degrees of freedom" variables as possible to try to diagnose what is going on.

A first step would be printing a test print of a known image using all default settings. There is a good one, with explanation, at:

Are you using the correct Canon cartridges with this ? Was the printer purchased new ?
