Epson cartridge compatibility

I have a Epson workforce that takes 252 and 254 ink. Lately I've been finding a ton of 220 ink cartridges on sale at my local closeout store. I've got around 20 of them for just a couple dollars each. I'm wondering if anyone has tried them in the workforce. They look EXACTLY the same but have different numbers. Epson wouldn't answer my question. I come from a manufacturing background so I know that many times manufacturers are just putting a different sticker on an item and it is the same.
