HP 4L won't feed paper

Hello. My 15 year old HP 4L laserjet starting having bad problems this week.First came the loud groaning when paper was fed in. I changed the motor drive gear and fixed that. Now when I manually feed paper, it just softly clicks (like a solenoid tripping someplace) but the paper out light remains lit. No fan comes on, no other printer noise. Just that soft click. Any suggestions? It's been so reliable for so long I hate to give up on it. Thanks.
