My recycled cartridges appear to have been locked to previous user by the HP 'cartridge protection' function installed by the latest HP update. The error message reads 'This printer is not designed to use continuous ink systems …' This looks like a rerun of HP's previous attempt to force people into buying only new HP cartridges. I thought that was illegal, at least in the EU. Can anyone tell me whether my guess is correct and how to disable cartridge protection? There is no 'cartridge protection' tab on 'security' in the printer settings. HP's own support sites are a waste of time. Might uninstalling the printer and re-installing give me the option of removing 'cartridge protection' ? Is there anything else that could be done?
