Over-zealous cleaning

I am using a Canon Pixma MG5350 printer (still under warranty) and find that it does its
print-head cleaning very frequently. In fact, I am having to replace the colour cartridges without actually printing much in colour - a single colour picture only, apart from colour embellishments on letter-heads. Can I alter the frequency of the cleaning?

Some things to consider and/or try ...

* Some of the sounds you hear that appear to be head cleaning may be the printer repositioning the print-head to the "park" position, rather than consuming ink.

* Don't turn the printer on and off ... which can trigger a head-cleaning.

* Don't do visual checks of the ink levels ... which triggers head cleaning.

* Replace more than one ink cartridge at a time. I wait until one cart reports "Empty", and usually another will be reporting "Low" ... then replace both.
