Printers and Privacy

Hello all,

I am using a multifunction printer to print/scan & copy documents that are very valuable to me & that I'd rather keep private. Anyone knows of privacy relating to printers? Can manufacturers technically have access to these documents if they wish to? I'd know they'd have no apparent reason to do this, for they'd probably have more to lose if it were uncovered.

How do companies deal with this "possibility/issue"?

Thank you,

I don't know about manufacturers, they probably have another things to do. But if your printer is in your local network, moreover if it has WiFi, then don't forget to change default password for the printer's administration panel because some evil guy can use it.
