Brother drums compatible with Dell printers

I want to get a new laser printer in the near future. Dell Laser printers are obviously made by Brother. Equivalent Dell models cost less than Brother. But the Dell replacement toner and drums cost more than Brother. So wondering which to get?

I heard the brother toner cartridges can be modified to work with Dell printers. I'm wondering if the drums will work also?

Are there anything other important differences between the two brands?
