Brother MFC5890CN on Windows 10

In June 2020 my printer stopped working. USB cable is OK, and when plugged-in makes a beep noise. In Control Panel, I found my default printer listed under "unspecified", which I assume means not recognized as a valid device. Couldn't uninstall driver from Control Panel.

I've tried dozens of suggested fixes (uninstall recent Win update; restore point, etc), but no luck. Latest attempt : I downloaded Brother Uninstaller and reinstalled the driver. Still listed under "unspecified", even though it is checked as default.

Unless I can get it working, I'll have to buy a new one. Any suggestions to get it on the "specified" list will be appreciated.
