Brother MFC-J5920DW Ink Absorber Pad Full

Our brother printer is showing Error Code 46: Ink Absorber Pad Full and not allowing printing. Everything I've found online suggested resetting the purge counter which I did through the maintenance menu, however it did not clear the message and still nothing is printing. The purge counter reads 0 but the error is still on the screen and no print jobs are going through. Any suggestions?
