Brother MFC-L8900CDW Toner Not Recognized

Hi All, I replaced the yellow toner with a new genuine cartridge and the printer kept saying "Replace yellow cartridge". I contacted Brother and they said the cartridge must be defective and send me a brand new yellow cartridge, but even with that in place, the printer couldn't register it and kept saying "replace the cartridge". When I contacted Brother again, they said the printer must be repaired. and refused to give me any additional information as to what part is broken and needs replacing. I worry that I'd have to spend couple hundred dollars if I take this to a print shop. Can anyone help me figure out what could be the issue with this? I'm pretty handy and if there's a sensor or a board that needs replacing I could get it done. Thanks!
