After only 130 prints the printer now comes up with a 6A80 code during startup. It's only 15 months old, and Canon support says they no longer repair them. Any help?

Late reply I know but doing a quick search it appears error code 6A80 may be due to a paper jamb or foreign object inside the printer. I’m making the assumption the same code would apply to several Canon printer.

That's about all I could find, too. I have a feeling that something might be wrong with the feed unit. I'd like to get it out and have a look at the mechanism. I've already replaced it with an Epson ET-8550, so it's not an emergency at this point, but I'd like to repair it and send it down the road.

No, I certainly was not able to figure anything out. Canon is super picky about sharing any of their tech material. I guess I should have known that, having worked at Canon Solutions America for 13 years. As much as I hate purchasing extended warranties, I now buy them (for printers anyway). I bought an Epson ET-8550 that I'm pretty happy with. I wasn't going to reward Canon by buying another Canon printer that they were so insistent on not helping me with. I know the warranty was up, but you'd think they could've help me out a little...

Thanks for getting back tom! And I'm sorry to hear that. I was hoping you had fixed it and would know something about it. What kind of grease/lube do they use for drive gears and such? Do these consumer printers ever need lubrication?

My Pixma TS8350 was making some annoying noise, but it was working fine. So I decided to spray it with a synthetic adhesive lubricant that thickens as it dries and doesn't run. I was mindful of what lubricant I use. I sprayed it at the back where the motor and drive gears are located, on the right side, because that's where the noise was coming from. It was using the roller cleaning function, so I sprayed it while the printer was running.

After that, it first gave me error code 1300 for paper jam. But there were no papers in the printer! Then after a few power cycles I tried to print a Word document, and then it gave me error code 6A80, the same as you had. This is also related to a paper jam I think, but a more "serious" service code by the looks of it (alphanumeric). The printer now prints a blank paper every time I power it on, and shows me 6A80 code. It's as if it still has that old printout in its memory and tells me to cancel the print and restart the printer, and if it doesn't help, to contact a service center. It's as if it's upset that I tried to print a new page without taking care of the "paper jam" first.

Is it done for now? Time to buy a new one?

Actually, the price of the ink, and the frequency of replacement was a little ridiculous as well. For only 130 or so print jobs, I had just put in my 3rd set of cartridges at about $115 (with tax). With my newer Epson ET-8550 I have 400 color prints through it and still have about half of the original ink left, and maybe 1/3 of the Gray ink. I print quite a few 'big' images, 13x19 and 14x11 for shows and contests. After owning the Epson for 15 months, I'm starting to think about ordering ink for the first time. Good luck with your Pro-200 - I liked mine, until I didn't.
